Job summary

LAUKOA is hiring a Midday General Maintenance Worker I for Charleston, SC. The role supports building operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station, performing entry-level maintenance under supervision to keep facilities safe, functional, and presentable.

The position runs 3pm–11pm, requires basic tools experience, and an ability to lift up to 50 lbs. DHS background check and U.S. citizenship or work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• 2 years of recent experience in building maintenance or similar role.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced staff.
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.
