Job summary

Acento Real Estate Partners in Newport News, VA, is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Technician I to join our on-site team at multifamily communities. This hands-on role offers growth as you learn the ins and outs of property maintenance.

You will perform basic maintenance, respond to resident requests, and work with senior technicians on repairs and preventive tasks. Competitive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of maintenance or related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork mindset.
• Valid driver’s license.
• HVAC or EPA knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks including painting, minor plumbing, and electrical work.
• Conduct routine inspections of common areas and apartments to identify maintenance needs.
• Assist with furniture setup, seasonal maintenance (e.g., snow removal, landscaping), and make-ready tasks.
• Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests with professionalism and courtesy.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with senior technicians on more complex repair projects and preventive maintenance.
