Job summary

Staffmark Group in Alabaster, AL is seeking a Maintenance Technician Helper for the 1st shift. You will assist with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep production moving safely and efficiently.

Pay range is $23.00-$25.00 per hour with competitive weekly pay. Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, some technical training, and experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment.
• Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, or equipment documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and preventative maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance technicians with routine maintenance and repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility issues.
• Assist with preventive maintenance on equipment, conveyors, and production systems.
• Use hand and power tools safely.
• Inspect equipment and report issues.
• Assist with replacing belts, bearings, hoses, filters and other components.
• Keep maintenance areas and tools clean and organized.
• Follow safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with emergency repairs as needed.
• Perform general facility maintenance as directed.

Job Duties

• Assist Maintenance Technicians with routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
• Help troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility-related issues.
• Assist with preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, conveyors, and other production systems.
• Use basic hand and power tools safely and properly.
• Help inspect equipment and report maintenance issues or potential problems.
• Assist with replacing belts, bearings, hoses, filters, and other components as directed.
• Keep maintenance areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with emergency repairs and respond to equipment issues as needed.
• Perform general facility maintenance and other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school, vocational training, or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience Requirements

• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment.
• Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, or equipment documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and preventative maintenance practices.
• Previous maintenance, mechanical, construction, or industrial experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related technical environment is preferred.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance programs and responding to equipment breakdowns is beneficial.
• Knowledge of PLCs, electrical controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, or fabrication is considered an asset.
• Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Maintenance Technician Helper.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in a variety of industrial environments throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift equipment, tools, and replacement parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely work around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
• Manual dexterity to operate tools, perform repairs, and inspect equipment.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
