Job summary

Smithfield Foods in North Carolina is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly in a fast-paced food processing environment.

You’ll troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, perform preventive maintenance, read blueprints, and support safety protocols like lockout/tagout. SAP is used to manage work orders, and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years of related experience.
• Vocational/Technical Diploma or Associate Degree preferred.
• Ability to function in a team and interact with all levels of personnel and contractors.
• Ability to operate forklift, genie lift or scissor lift (PIT).
• Read and interpret work orders and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and prepare tools, equipment, and parts for tasks.
• Use SAP to create and manage work orders.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate tools and equipment.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and manuals to diagnose issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance and on-site repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Install and maintain systems, including electrical, piping, and machinery.
• Follow safety protocols (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT) and GMPs.
