Maintenance Technician – Direct hire/ W-2 job opportunity for growing food manufacturer!

Pay Rate: $24.00 – $27.00 / Hourly
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on production equipment and machinery, excluding areas requiring specialized training such as complex electrical and PLC systems.
- Conduct inspections, identify faults, and troubleshoot issues with processing and packaging equipment within the scope of general maintenance expertise.
- Carry out preventive maintenance schedules on a regular basis to minimize equipment breakdowns and extend the lifespan of machinery, excluding equipment that requires special training and certification, such as high voltage electrical and refrigeration systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and execute repairs within the scope of general maintenance expertise to minimize production disruptions.
- Collaborate with production, sanitation, and quality control teams to address maintenance-related concerns and implement improvements within the general maintenance skill set.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Source and order spare parts and equipment as needed, ensuring the availability of necessary components for repairs and maintenance within the general maintenance domain, subject to department head approval.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations within the general maintenance capacity.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by proposing and implementing changes to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency within the scope of general maintenance.
- Obtain department head approval for the procurement of parts and components required for maintenance tasks.
- Seek department head approval for outside contracted repairs and coordinate with external service providers as necessary.
- Immediately report to your supervisor any issues that need attention and are outside your area of expertise.
- Follow proper Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company‑specific food safety programs when repairing or maintaining equipment and/or facilities.
- Perform basic housekeeping and facility repair to keep the facility in top shape.
- Immediately report any malfunction caused by faulty repairs.
- Specifically prohibited from attempting repairs outside your area of expertise.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of industrial machinery, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to maintain a safe workplace.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as required.
