Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Chester, VA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform semi-skilled tasks related to building and grounds maintenance, equipment and appliance repair, and safety duties. You will operate tools, order materials, perform repairs, and assist with resident transport and safety drills.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of maintenance experience, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of building maintenance practices and materials.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tools and machines used in the maintenance/building trade.
• Order materials as directed and handle phone communications.
• Make repairs to building, equipment, and appliances as directed.
• Disassemble and move furniture throughout the community.
• Check maintenance logs and respond to requests promptly.
• Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Prepare and paint surfaces in the community.
• Maintain exterior grounds including landscaping and trash removal.
• Perform basic electrical work, including bulb changes.
• Transport residents in community vehicle as needed.
• Assist with vehicle maintenance schedule.
• Assist director with resident safety drills.
• All other duties as assigned.
