Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in Lorton, Virginia to perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks across the community. You will participate in building and grounds upkeep, support the Maintenance Director, and help keep resident spaces safe and well-maintained.

This role requires per-shift flexibility, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in a maintenance position.
• Knowledge of practices and materials used in building maintenance.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tools and machines used in maintenance/building trades.
• Order materials as directed; handle calls and scheduling.
• Make repairs to building, equipment, and appliances as directed.
• Disassemble and move furniture throughout the community.
• Review maintenance logs and work orders for prompt responses.
• Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
• Prepare and paint surfaces in the community.
• Maintain exterior grounds including landscaping and trash removal.
• Perform basic electrical tasks such as changing light bulbs.
• Transport residents with community vehicle to appointments.
• Assist with community vehicle maintenance schedule.
• Assist maintenance director with resident safety drills.
