POAH Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician-Bilingual in Spanish for Campbell Arms Apartments in Homestead, FL. The role requires at least 1 year of apartment maintenance experience, Spanish bilingual skills, and a valid driver’s license. HVAC certification is preferred.
This union position involves flexible scheduling, including weekends and on-call shifts. Built in 1968, Campbell Arms Apartments has 201 units and is part of a larger affordable-housing portfolio managed by POAH
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in apartment maintenance.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- HVAC certification preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance coverage.
- Flexible schedule with weekends and on-call basis.
- Knowledge of safe use and maintenance of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance forms and warnings.
Responsibilities
- Insure a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff.
- Diagnose and perform minor and routine maintenance/repairs.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Complete make-ready repairs and services.
- Inspect and coordinate needed make-ready repairs and services.
- Assist in keeping grounds neat and clean.

ABOUT THE ROLEPOAH Communities is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Maintenance Technician-Bilingual in Spanish. This is a Union Position. Built in 1968, Campbell Arms Apartments is a 201 unit multi-family apartment complex located approximately 30 miles south of Miami in the suburb of Homestead. After being severely damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1996, the property went through the LIHPRHA program extending its use agreement for 50 years. Part of the portfolio purchased from another non-profit, POAH coordinated with HUD to complete a transfer of the properties in 2009. ABOUT YOUR IMPACT- Insuring a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff.
- Being knowledgeable of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Being aware of the condition of apartment property throughout the community and immediately initiate action to correct unsafe conditions.
- Scheduling and performing routine preventative maintenance on all appropriate equipment.
- Performing work area clean-up and safety related duties.
- Diagnosing and perform minor and routine maintenance/repairs.
- Insuring all make-ready repairs and services are completed.
- Inspecting and helping coordinate all needed make-ready repairs and services.
- Assisting in keeping grounds neat and clean. Rake, sweep, shovel as necessary.
- Must have at least 1 year experience in apartment maintenance.
- Bilingual in Spanish
- High School diploma or GED required. HVAC certification preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance coverage as use of personal vehicle may be required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with weekends and on-call basis as necessary.
- Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, user-moved aids, mechanical equipment, measuring devices.
- Must be able to perform the following duties 66-100% of the time: be on feet, bend/stoop/squat/kneel, climb stairs, push/pull, reach above shoulder, climb ladders, grasp/grip/turn, finger dexterity, lift/carry up to 75lbs, be able to read and understand maintenance forms and warning labels.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
