Job summary

Aterra-Real-Estate in West Des Moines, IA seeks an Experienced Maintenance Technician to maintain and improve residential and commercial properties, ensuring safety and curb appeal. You will work on mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and landscape tasks as part of a team.

We offer comprehensive benefits and a structured schedule, with on-site hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, plus occasional on-call and weekend hours.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience in building/property maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a “do it right the first time” mindset.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Great communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Common area maintenance (change light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles and daytime emergency janitorial duties)
• Minor drywall repair, taping
• Painting and paint touch-ups
• Security of leased spaces, including working with locksmiths and re-keying units, as needed.
• Carpentry skills and ability to review and interpret construction/site plans is helpful.
• Minor plumbing and electrical repairs that do not require a license.
• HVAC diagnostics and basic repairs.
• Yard and landscaping upkeep - trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, and occasional snow removal.
• Concreate curb and parking lot maintenance
• Will require lifting, pushing, pulling 75 pounds or more on occasion
• Bi-lingual is a PLUS!
