Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join our manufacturing team in Texas. This entry-level role develops foundational skills under supervision with hands-on training.

You will handle preventive and corrective maintenance, assist with equipment installation, and participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives. The position emphasizes reliability, learning, and career progression within the maintenance organization.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS systems preferred.
Welding, fabrication, or PLC experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machines, tools, and facility systems.
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment issues.
Install new or replacement machinery and equipment according to specifications.
Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests to minimize production interruptions.
Document all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Identify potential reliability issues and recommend solutions to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Use diagnostic tools, schematics, and manuals to ensure accurate troubleshooting.
Support predictive maintenance programs, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication checks.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
Maintain shop areas, tools, and parts inventory in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams to schedule maintenance without disrupting operations.
Participate in safety and 5S initiatives, daily meetings, and continuous improvement projects.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or system upgrades.
Perform basic fabrication, welding, or electrical wiring as required for equipment upkeep.
Provide input to improve maintenance procedures and equipment performance.
