Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC in Union Springs, AL is seeking a maintenance mechanic to assist in the repair and preventative maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems at our poultry processing plant. You’ll use blueprints and diagrams to keep equipment operating within specification and safety standards.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience, basic math and tool skills, and be able to work nights, weekends and extended shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • NOCTI Level 1 test passed.
  • Minimum 1 year in industrial maintenance or related knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery using blueprints/schematics.
  • Identify root causes and perform repairs including welding, fabrication, or pipefitting.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and report to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with maintaining blueprints, operating manuals, and procedures.
  • Follow safety policies and company guidelines in all tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PAY: ($25.65 - $35.50) + $3,000 Sign & Stay Bonus3rd: 9:00PM - 5:30 AMBENEFITS: Available first day of hirePRIMARY FUNCTION:Primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems/types of industrial equipment for poultry processing plant. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance using blueprints and diagrams to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. May perform periodic testing and inspections, troubleshooting and repairs. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Under general supervision, repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery (i.e. mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying systems, etc) using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specificationsIdentify root cause of basic mechanical issues and performs repairs by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting or replacing defective component; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is requiredIdentify unsafe conditions and corrects; reports to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on ownAssist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as neededWork in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulationsAll other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalentPass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 requiredEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated applicable mechanical and electrical knowledgeIntermediate math and computer skillsAbility to operate/use basic hand and power toolsAbility to work unsupervised and self-motivateAbility to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hoursSound work ethic, honesty and moral characterSAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Follow departmental and company safety policies and programsMust wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Stand up to 8 hoursLift up to 60 lbsMay be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC)Exposure to wet and dusty environmentFrequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawlingRoll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)Work around raw, live animal odorsWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
