Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms in Ozark, AL is seeking a diligent maintenance technician to join our feed mill team. The role focuses on maintenance and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveying equipment, using blueprints and diagrams to ensure everything operates within required tolerances.

You will perform preventative and predictive maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and contribute to safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year experience in industrial machinery maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shifts.
• Good math and computer skills.
• Strong English communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, conveyor, pump, steam and electrical systems using blueprints and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications.
• Identify root causes of complex mechanical/electrical issues and perform repairs; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
• Search for and present ideas for permanent fixes for recurring mechanical or electrical problems.
• Identify and correct unsafe conditions; notify appropriate personnel and request assistance if unable to correct on own.
• Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed.
• Work in compliance with all company policies and safety guidelines.
• Train entry level employees as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Perform preventative and predictive maintenance using blueprints and diagrams to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. May perform periodic testing and inspections, troubleshooting and repairs. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under minimal supervision, maintain and repair mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, conveyor, pump, steam and electrical systems using blueprints and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications


• Identify root cause of more complex/difficult mechanical and electrical issues and repairs using welding, fabrication, basic pipefitting and electrical/process control knowledge; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required


• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled


• Search for and present ideas for permanent fix for reoccurring mechanical or electrical problems


• Identify and correct unsafe conditions; notify appropriate personnel and request assistance if unable to correct on own


• Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machinery maintenance and repair, mechanical and electrical knowledge


• Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawing and schematics required


• Intermediate math and computer skills


• Ability to operate/use basic hand and power tools


• Ability to comprehend and communicate in English required


• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate


• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours


• Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs


• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Stand up to 8 hours


• Lift up to 60 lbs


• Exposure to wet and dusty environment


• Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling


• Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
