Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift (Finance)

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, saws, molders, spoolers, strippers, cut strip machines, etc. Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble. Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts. Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices, as necessary. Cleans and lubricates parts. Inspects completed repairs. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Requisitions new parts and equipment.

3rd Shift, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 pm to 6:30 am

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
  1. Manages Preventative Maintenance program which includes documentation for our quality assurance program.
  2. Communicates and cooperates with all Techs on the floor concerning equipment not operating correctly.
  3. Trains operators on daily maintenance.
  4. Manages Tool Calibration program which includes documentation for our quality assurance program.
  5. Observes all safety requirements including but not limited to Lock-Out/Tag-Out.
  6. Goals include making repairs to original equipment specifications - consult with manufacturer if fix is unknown.
  7. Repairs building equipment such as fans, overhead doors, docks/locks, etc., also required maintenance.
  8. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  9. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.
  10. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  11. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  12. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  13. Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  14. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.
  15. Starts devices to test their performance and updates operators on changes in equipment.
  16. Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  17. Able to adapt quickly to fix the most important issues to keep a department running and then work on long-range fixes.
  18. Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
  19. Works under minimal supervision but maintains daily communication on issues with Engineering Tech, Leads, and/or Plant Manager.
  20. Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent
3 Years Experience in Machine Maintenance
2 Years Production/Manufacturing Environment

Technical Skills

MS Office; Applies basic repair skills and may develop advanced skills using tools, equipment, and learning appropriate for the position or specialization.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to operate equipment, including forklifts, safely and understand and follow safety protocols.
  • Able to stand for up to 10 hours per day and to walk for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work in a non-climate-controlled facility with temperature fluctuations.
