Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician 2 nd shift

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

FSLA Status: Hourly

SUMMARY:

The maintenance technician position performs highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. Supports and complies with predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. Makes suggestions for simpler, smarter, and more effective ways to achieve the objectives undertaken by the maintenance department. Expected to consider Safety, Quality, Service, and Profitability objectives at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the performance and productivity objectives of the Department and for the equipment in the facility.
  • Must be safety-oriented.
  • Routine and emergency Maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoots electrical and or mechanical problems.
  • Completes project work as needed.
  • Members must be highly motivated and maintain high performance levels.
  • Participates in the Preventive maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Assists with the gathering of information to maintain the computerized PM program.
  • Assist with new equipment installation and or equipment relocation.
  • Supports the Maintenance of facilities and equipment to meet MS, OSHA, and U.S.D.A. standards.
  • Improve the uptime of facilities through machine modification, adjustments, and machine Maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Ensure all record keeping is accomplished correctly so that Maintenance records are accurate.
  • Work with the maintenance department to maintain equipment in the best mechanical operating condition.
  • Carry out responsibilities following company policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience with GMPs, HAACP, sanitation, process improvement, plant safety programs, and quality assurance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of experience with preventive maintenance systems in a manufacturing facility.
  • Ground beef experience preferred.
  • Industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Basic Electrical experience/understanding is required. Willingness to learn is essential.
  • Must be willing to share skills to help others develop and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Committed to providing a high level of detail and pride towards equipment maintenance, projects, and general housekeeping.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to complete PM documentation paperwork accurately.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve complex and practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited experience may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
