About Us

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility, beginning black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company started passivating stainless steel, and in 1981, purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, SWD Inc. is a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, with over 200 employees working three shifts per day in its 250,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

What We're Seeking

SWD Inc. is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician for 2nd shift, from 3pm to 11pm. Starting pay ranges from $18.75/hr to $35.00/hr, depending on experience. Compensation is negotiable during the interview.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Fabricate or modify equipment using hand tools like saws, drills, and grinders
• Detect unusual sounds from machines indicating malfunctions
• Install piping systems in PVC, stainless steel, and iron
• Install machinery and equipment per specifications
• Repair and maintain centrifugal and pneumatic pumps
• Weld metal parts using TIG or arc welding
• Complete documentation and paperwork
• Follow all safety rules and regulations
• Adhere to company policies and quality standards, including QS-9000 and ISO-14001
• Troubleshoot minor electrical issues such as blown fuses or shorts

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma
• Ability to lift 40 lbs
• Prior technical maintenance experience
• Availability for occasional weekend work, including quarterly maintenance
• Manufacturing and forklift experience are a plus
