Job summary

Quanex (NYSE: NX) is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our 3rd shift team in Statesville, NC. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years as a Maintenance Technician (5+ years in manufacturing a plus), reads drawings, and demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills. We offer a safe, air-conditioned facility with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician; 5+ years in manufacturing is a plus.
• Reads drawings, prints and sketches to follow mechanical and electrical schematics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to prioritize resources.
• Willingness to train on new technology and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair plant-wide equipment, installations and PMs.
• Follow Lock Out Tag Out policy and safety rules.
• Use computer systems to locate parts and document work performed.
• Review work orders and coordinate with requestors for clarification.
• Maintain documentation of work performed.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00 pm – 6:30 am

Hourly Rate is $30 to $39.50 + $1.50/hour for shift premium for 3rd shift.

What Success Looks Like:

• Performs all tasks in a safe manner, wearing required PPE and following all safety regulations
• Know and understand all Safety rules and guidelines to ensure work is performed safely
• Review work orders with resource as they are received, ask for clarification and confer with the requestor for additional clarification when needed
• Originate and process emergency work orders when necessary
• Have a clear understanding of and strictly comply with Lock Out Tag Out policy
• Use computer system to find needed parts for repairs
• Maintain written documentation of work performed
• Complete PMs as required both safely and procedurally
• Troubleshoot an inoperable machine or piece of equipment. Work may involve installing, servicing, replacing, and/or repairing any machine or equipment plant-wide, with or without schematics. Exact skills will be based on competencies known and properly trained in
• Electrical – Troubleshoot and repair distribution equipment, such as transformers, motors, breakers; locate areas of electrical trouble by using proper test equipment, motors, and controllers; test, energize, and repair different types of circuits; and ability to test, troubleshoot, and change drives
• Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear

What You Bring:

• Minimum of 3 years of successful experience as a Maintenance Technician, 5+ years in a manufacturing facility a plus
• High School or GED
• Willingness and ability to train on new technology
• Reads drawings, prints & sketches
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize and effectively utilize available resources
