The Role
This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. The Maintenance Technician supports the Maintenance Manager in routine and preventative maintenance of all equipment within the facility, as well as general cleaning and upkeep of the facility itself. The ideal candidate is well-rounded, with exposure to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility maintenance. You are also a team player, driven by pride in your work and fostering positive coworker relationships.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties safely, following company work rules and policies.
- Conduct minor repairs in building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and painting, including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
- Assist with construction, routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on all facility equipment.
- Perform routine filter cleaning and replacement activities on HVAC units and other equipment.
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Complete work orders as assigned.
- Develop a high level of knowledge concerning facility equipment and systems, including plumbing, electrical, irrigation, HVAC, and security.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and required training (Safety, Quality, Regulations, etc.).
- Assist with unloading freight deliveries as needed.
- Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
- Foster a positive environment through a positive attitude and self-motivation.
- Research and adapt new methods to meet or exceed goals, and modify techniques based on laws and regulations.
- Maintain personal hygiene and follow health guidelines set by GTI and Illinois state regulations, especially when processing patient medicine.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required; some college or college degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of maintenance or similar experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction/carpentry.
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or in teams.
- Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Operate with professionalism and integrity, including handling confidential information appropriately.
- Good interpersonal skills and adaptability to policy, procedure, and technical changes.
- Compliance with GTI rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Pass all required background checks.
- Remain compliant with industry regulations and company policies.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Approval from state regulating agency for cannabis agent badge.
Working Conditions
- Regularly required to grasp, talk, hear, climb, reach, squat, kneel, crawl, see, and perform repetitive motions.
- Physical ability to work on feet, lift/carry up to 50 pounds (100 with assistance), and perform tasks safely.
- Exposure to allergens such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil.
