Description

Oak Hall School has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Technician. Candidates with an interest in serving a school community in a variety of maintenance and repair-oriented responsibilities are highly encouraged to apply. On-the-job training is available for several of the key responsibilities listed below.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 hours daily, staggered starting times scheduled by Supervisor; occasional overtime, as scheduled.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to perform light electrical work as directed; bulb changing, ballast replacement, fixture replacement, receptacle/switch replacement.
  • Ability to perform plumbing repairs and/or maintenance as directed; drain clearing, leak repair, fixture replacement.
  • Paint building and signs as directed.
  • Perform lawn care including mowing, edging, weed removal, weed trimming, hedge trimming, trash pick-up, as directed.
  • Setting up tables, chairs, and moving furniture and other items as needed including occasional off-site events.
  • Ability to perform minor carpentry repairs and perform minor HVAC repairs.
  • Perform minor maintenance on grounds equipment.
  • Cleaning and removal of trash as needed during day to supplement evening cleaning crew.
  • Re-stock housekeeping supplies as needed during day to supplement evening cleaning crew.
  • Operate light machinery, riding mowers, golf carts safely.
  • Provide school-wide customer service while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, facilities maintenance or related position required.
  • Plumbing, HVAC, or electrical experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Ability to use power tools safely.
  • Ability to climb and use ladders safely, 2’-24’.
  • Ability to use small engine tools, lawn tractors, general duty tractors safely.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as daily schedules, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties safely in proximity to students and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment.
  • A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and mission of the School.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Works primarily in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, turn, bend, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to climb ladders up to 24’, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to visually and audibly locate students and staff in the proximity of maintenance work being performed.
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
  • Regularly exposed to loud noise.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with approved equipment.
