Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd or 3rd shift at our Mishawaka, IN facility. You will perform safe preventative maintenance, install, service, repair, and provide electrical support to multiple operating machines in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has mechanical and electrical aptitude, experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, reads electrical and mechanical drawings, and can troubleshoot PLCs. Overtime and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Military/Tech schooling preferred.
• 2-3 years in troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical systems.
• Electrical experience a plus; strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.

Job: Maintenance Technician

Shift: 2nd or 3rd Shift

Overtime: Must be flexible to work daily or weekend overtime as needed

Pay: $28 - $37 an hour, plus shift differential ($0.60 /hr - 2nd & 3rd Shift)

The Opportunity:

On the 2nd or 3rd shift: Primary duties include providing safe preventative maintenance, installation, service, repair, timely electrical support, troubleshooting and resolution of multiple operating machines within a manufacturing industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and electrical experience (preferred), a familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics and have basic troubleshooting experience with proven ability of machine repair.

What You Need To succeed:

• High school diploma or equivalent Military training and or Technical School preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical systems down to the component level in a manufacturing environment. Electrical experience is a plus.
• An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes; motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial / electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
• A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Able to install and set up both A/C and D/C drives (preferred but not required).
• PLC trouble shooting and problem solving ability (preferred but not required).
• Practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude.
• Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Working knowledge of power transmission equipment and bearings.
• Basic welding skills preferred but not required.
• Familiar with pumps, both air and electric.
• Able to install and trouble shoot basic 3 phase motor control circuits.
• Some knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches.
• Familiar with computers and Microsoft software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime.
