Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Mishawaka, IN facility on 2nd or 3rd shift. The role requires performing safe preventive maintenance, installation, service, and repair of industrial machinery, with electrical support and troubleshooting to keep lines running.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of experience in industrial mechanical systems, familiarity with hydraulics/pneumatics, and ability to read schematics. Overtime and weekend coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• 2–3 years troubleshooting and repair of industrial mechanical systems.
• Electrical experience is a plus.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Familiar with sensors and limit switches.
• Experience with pumps and power transmission.

Responsibilities

Job: Maintenance Technician

Shift: 2nd or 3rd Shift

Overtime: Must be flexible to work daily or weekend overtime as needed

Pay: $28 - $37 an hour, plus shift differential ($0.60 /hr - 2nd & 3rd Shift)

The Opportunity

On the 2nd or 3rd shift: Primary duties include providing safe preventative maintenance, installation, service, repair, timely electrical support, troubleshooting and resolution of multiple operating machines within a manufacturing industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and electrical experience (preferred), a familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics and have basic troubleshooting experience with proven ability of machine repair.

What You Need To Succeed

• High school diploma or equivalent Military training and or Technical School preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical systems down to the component level in a manufacturing environment. Electrical experience is a plus.
• An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes; motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial / electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
• A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Able to install and set up both A/C and D/C drives (preferred but not required).
• PLC trouble shooting and problem solving ability (preferred but not required).
• Practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude.
• Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Working knowledge of power transmission equipment and bearings.
• Basic welding skills preferred but not required.
• Familiar with pumps, both air and electric.
• Able to install and trouble shoot basic 3 phase motor control circuits.
• Some knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches.
• Familiar with computers and Microsoft software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime.
