Job summary

HM alpha Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Maintenance Technician for JW Marriott Houston 261 to keep hotel facilities, pool areas, and public spaces operating smoothly. You will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, respond to guest requests, and coordinate with engineering staff to ensure safe, clean environments.

Requirements include 1 year of hands-on maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and technical training in HVAC/electrical/plumbing is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on maintenance experience in a hotel, commercial building, or similar environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing is a plus.
• Successful completion of a background check is required.
• Location: JW Marriott Houston 261.
• Shift: Various Shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hotel, pool, and surrounding areas, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs using hand tools.
• Notify management regarding major repairs or additions to lighting, HVAC, and related systems.
• Respond to guest requests for service per company policy and keep records of rooms completed.
• Program hotel phone equipment according to needs.
• Monitor equipment and utility meter readings daily.
• Coordinate with Front Desk and Chief Engineer to address property needs.
• Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets and ensure par stocking of parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician will directly impact the guest experience by ensuring that all physical aspects of the hotel—rooms, amenities, and facilities—are operating at peak performance. From resolving in-room issues to keeping systems like HVAC and lighting running smoothly, your hands-on approach and attention to detail will help create a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment that enhances the overall guest stay and supports long-term operational efficiency.

HOW YOU’LL SHAPE THE EXPERIENCE & FUTURE

• Maintain hotel, pool, and surrounding area, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC functions, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Respond to guest requests for service according to company policy. Keep records of rooms completed.
• Program phone equipment according to hotel needs.
• Observe equipment and utility meter readings on a daily basis.
• Stay accessible to Front Desk and Chief Engineer.
• Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Ensure par stocking of regularly used parts and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 1 year of hands-on maintenance or repair experience in a hotel, commercial building, or similar environment.

Experience with:

• Routine upkeep of hotel facilities, pool areas, and public spaces.
• Monitoring daily equipment operations and utility meter readings.
• Programming and maintaining hotel systems.
• Managing small inventories of tools and maintenance parts.
• Documenting completed repairs and guest service tasks.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training or coursework in general maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields is a plus.
