Job summary

MANN+HUMMEL Goleta, CA is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and predictive maintenance across manufacturing equipment. You will conduct condition monitoring, inspect rotating equipment, and document work in CMMS, while supporting installation, commissioning, and safety compliance.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, PLC knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment such as hydraulic presses and chillers.
• Conduct condition monitoring including vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil sampling.
• Inspect and service rotating equipment, including bearings, belts, and lubrication systems.
• Close maintenance work orders in CMMS (SAP, eMaint or similar).
• Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled systems (Allen Bradley and Siemens preferred).
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components including drives, servos, relays, sensors, and pneumatics.
• Perform mechanical and alignment adjustments on conveyors, gearboxes, and tooling.
• Respond to downtime and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Support installation of new equipment and upgrades.
• Align motors, calibrate sensors/encoders, and validate functionality.
• Coordinate with Engineering and OEMs during commissioning.
• Maintain HVAC, compressed air, RO/DI water, and chilled water loops.
• Monitor system performance including pressures and control panels.
• Perform general building maintenance tasks as required.
• Follow safety procedures including LOTO, Arc Flash, confined space.
• Conduct job hazard analyses before maintenance work.
• Support safety audits and corrective actions.
• Maintain maintenance records and update technical documentation.
• Support SOPs and maintenance procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Track spare parts usage and support inventory replenishment.
• Identify critical parts shortages and escalate procurement needs.
• Maintain organization of tools and spare parts storage areas.
• Participate in daily production and maintenance meetings.
• Communicate equipment issues affecting production, quality, or safety.
• Train and mentor entry-level technicians as needed.

• Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and confined space requirements
• Conduct job hazard analyses prior to maintenance work
• Support safety audits and corrective action implementation

Documentation and Process Improvement

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update technical documentation
• Support development and adherence to SOPs and maintenance procedures
• Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

Inventory Management

• Track usage of spare parts and support inventory replenishment processes
• Identify critical parts shortages and elevate procurement needs
• Maintain organization of tools and spare parts storage areas

Collaboration and Communication

• Participate in daily production and maintenance meetings
• Communicate equipment issues affecting production, quality, or safety
• Train and mentor entry-level technicians as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in maintenance, electrical, or related field
• Experience with PLC programming or advanced troubleshooting
• Certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, automation, or related disciplines
• Familiarity with SAP PM, eMaint, or similar CMMS platforms
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights with appropriate PPE
