Aerotek in Columbia, SC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems across the facility.
The role involves diagnosing issues, repairing conveyors, motors, PLCs (Allen-Bradley), pneumatics and hydraulics, reading blueprints, and supporting HVAC tasks. This onsite position offers a shift-based schedule with growth opportunities and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills including 3-phase and 480V motors.
- Proficiency with conveyor systems, gear boxes, and industrial mechanical components.
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, including Allen-Bradley PLCs and related control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Experience with electronics and machine control systems in production environments.

The Maintenance Technician performs both preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems across the facility.
- Perform preventative maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs on machinery and systems when breakdowns or malfunctions occur.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair conveyor systems, gear boxes, and related mechanical components.
- Service and troubleshoot pneumatics and hydraulics systems used in manufacturing operations.
- Conduct mechanical and electrical maintenance on equipment, including 3-phase and 480V motors.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with photoeyes, sensors, servo drives, relays, and other electronic control devices.
- Connect laptops to PLCs for diagnostics, programming, and system monitoring.
- Troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and associated control systems to identify and correct faults.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to guide maintenance and repair activities.
- Perform machine repair, installation, and maintenance on a variety of industrial equipment and systems.
- Use power tools and fabrication techniques to repair, modify, or install mechanical components as needed.
- Apply mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
- Execute electrical troubleshooting and maintenance tasks in accordance with safety standards and best practices.
- Support HVAC-related maintenance tasks as needed within the facility.
- Perform welding and fabrication work when required to maintain or improve equipment and infrastructure.
- Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and repair needs to relevant stakeholders.
- Hands‑on experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.

- Solid mechanical troubleshooting and machine repair abilities.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills, including working safely with industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Mechanical aptitude and being mechanically inclined, with a strong understanding of industrial machinery.
- Experience with installation of industrial equipment and conveyor systems.
- Previous experience working in HVAC-related maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Welding and fabrication skills for repair and modification of equipment and structures.
- Familiarity with power tools and hand tools commonly used in maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of PLC control concepts and industrial electronics.
- Experience performing mechanical maintenance across a variety of machines and systems.
- Comfort working with electronics and machine control systems in a production environment.

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility with openings on 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will work around conveyor systems, motors, PLC-controlled equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other automated machinery. The environment is production-focused and fast-paced, requiring adherence to safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment. Technicians typically wear appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, SC.
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
