ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

River Park is Harvard-Westlake's new campus in Studio City, and the facilities team keeps it running. Fields, facilities, and building systems stay safe and usable because of the person in this role, for the students, teams, and families on site nearly every day of the year.

River Park opens with new buildings, new systems, and no maintenance history. This role builds the preventive maintenance schedule from the first inspection forward, and keeps a new campus in the condition it started in. The role sits on a facilities team that has kept two Los Angeles campuses running for decades, with the equipment, training, and support to do the work right.

Harvard-Westlake is one of the nation's leading independent schools — and what makes us exceptional isn't just the students or the resources; it's the people. You'll join a community of dedicated, smart, mission-driven colleagues who are genuinely invested in each other's growth and in building something meaningful together.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This role keeps River Park working day-to-day, from repairs and preventive maintenance across building systems to grounds care and event setup and support.

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Complete assigned work orders across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and patching, meeting quality and safety standards
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues throughout campus buildings and grounds, and identify practical solutions
  • Handle basic HVAC work including filter changes, thermostat adjustments, and system checks
  • Make minor electrical repairs including outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures, in line with applicable codes
  • Escalate complex issues to the Facilities Operations Manager when a specialized contractor or additional resources are needed

Preventive Maintenance

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and grounds
  • Inspect, test, and service mechanical systems, doors, lighting, and fixtures as directed
  • Catch potential problems early, before they turn into urgent repairs or disrupt campus use
  • Document all preventive maintenance activity in the work order management system

Grounds and Campus Appearance

  • Maintain walkways, landscaping, parking areas, and outdoor spaces so the campus is safe and ready for use
  • Clear litter, debris, and hazards from campus areas
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Support seasonal grounds care and campus appearance projects

Event Support and Special Projects

  • Set up and break down school and athletic events, including moving furniture, installing equipment, and configuring spaces
  • Restore event spaces to standard configuration after use
  • Assist with special projects, campus improvements, and renovations as directed
  • Operate forklifts, lifts, and other machinery as required and authorized

Community Responsibilities

  • Participate in school events, retreats, advisory, lunch supervision, professional development days, and community programming as appropriate to the role
  • Collaborate across departments and campuses in support of the school's mission and the broader life of the school.
  • Additional duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING

We know that strong candidates come from a variety of backgrounds and pathways. If you meet most of the qualifications below and are excited about this role,

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools, and safe operating procedures
