Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to perform general repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and facility systems at the La Jolla, CA campus within the Cancer Diagnostics division.

You will enter work orders in CMMS, support process improvements, and assist the Senior Maintenance Technician on projects and on-call coverage. Requires 4+ years in maintenance and relevant education.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electrical or mechanical maintenance field or HS diploma with 2 years in lieu.
• 4+ years in building maintenance, construction, or mechanical repair.
• 4+ years operating hand tools, power tools, multi-meters, and test equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, and related facility systems.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel macros, Pivot tables, and Word mail merge.
• Valid driver's license; clean driving record.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Communicate facility and safety issues to Facilities Management and coordinate with internal customers and vendors.
• Assist with spare parts management to minimize downtime.
• Support facility and utility systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, fire/safety).
• Enter, prioritize and close work orders in CMMS.
• Complete facility projects (moves, mounting, remodeling).
• Perform preventive and demand maintenance with proper documentation.
