Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is hiring a maintenance technician for our ice cream plant in Minnesota. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, mixers, ovens, and packaging lines to keep production running smoothly.

Adherence to food safety rules and timely emergency repairs are essential. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, with 0–2 years of related experience; a two-year maintenance trade degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• 0–2 years related maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety documents and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to complete work orders and document in a computer system.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment (conveyors, mixers, ovens, packaging).
• Follow food safety rules and use proper cleaning procedures and materials.
• Handle emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Manage spare parts and tools inventory for timely repairs.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area following OSHA regulations.

What You Will Do:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment like conveyors, mixers, ovens, and packaging machines to keep production running smooth and prevent breakdowns.
• Follow food safety rules when working around production areas, using the right cleaning procedures and food-grade materials to keep everything up to code.
• Handle emergency repairs when equipment breaks down during production, getting things back up and running as fast as possible to minimize downtime.
• Manage spare parts and tools inventory to make sure you've got what you need when equipment needs fixing or upgrading.
• Always working safely, following OSHA regulations and keeping your area clean and in line with company rules.

What You Will Bring:

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• Minimum of 0 to 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety documents, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete work orders and enter the required paperwork into a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
