Job summary

Schwan's Company in Minnesota is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment in a food manufacturing environment. You will follow food safety rules, handle emergency repairs, manage spare parts, and maintain clean, safe work areas.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 0–2 years of related experience, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and basic computer entry skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two-year maintenance trade degree preferred.
• 0–2 years of related maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety documents and maintenance procedures.
• Proficient in completing work orders and basic computer data entry.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment (conveyors, mixers, ovens, packaging) to minimize downtime.
• Follow food safety rules and use proper cleaning procedures and food-grade materials.
• Handle emergency repairs to quickly restore production.
• Manage spare parts and tools inventory to ensure availability for repairs or upgrades.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and comply with OSHA regulations.

What You Will Do:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment like conveyors, mixers, ovens, and packaging machines to keep production running smooth and prevent breakdowns.
• Follow food safety rules when working around production areas, using the right cleaning procedures and food-grade materials to keep everything up to code.
• Handle emergency repairs when equipment breaks down during production, getting things back up and running as fast as possible to minimize downtime.
• Manage spare parts and tools inventory to make sure you've got what you need when equipment needs fixing or upgrading.
• Always working safely, following OSHA regulations and keeping your area clean and in line with company rules.

What You Will Bring:

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• Minimum of 0 to 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety documents, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete work orders and enter the required paperwork into a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
