Job summary

CJ Schwan's is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Ohio to perform preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on conveyor systems and food production machinery. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills and the ability to work odd hours including nights and weekends.

You will document work orders in SAP and collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime while supporting plant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• 3+ years of related maintenance experience.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work variable shifts including overtime and weekends.
• Basic to advanced mechanical and electrical building skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to minimize downtime.
• Perform mechanical repairs including shaft keying, broaching, gear head replacement, welding, hose fabrication, and belt maintenance.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of plant machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, checks and precision instruments; identify root causes.
• Utilize SAP to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate with production/operations teams.

Starting Pay: $35.00 per hour

Hours: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am

What You Will Do

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Bring

• 3+ years of related experience.

• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.
