Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical/electronic systems on high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine inspections and servicing to prevent downtime, including motor replacements and sensor calibration.
  • PLC & Controls: Troubleshoot, program, and maintain Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and control circuits.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to Lockout/Tagout, NEC codes, and OSHA regulations.
  • Documentation: Document maintenance work, parts usage, and repairs in a CMMS.
  • Collaboration: Work with production staff to resolve issues and communicate repairs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

An Electrical Maintenance Technician in a meat processing facility will troubleshoots repair, and maintain automated production machinery and facility electrical systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring safety/SQF compliance in a wet, cold industrial environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical/electronic systems on high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine inspections, testing, and servicing of equipment to prevent downtime, including motor replacements and sensor calibration.
  • PLC & Controls: Troubleshoot, program, and maintain Allen-Bradley PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and control circuits.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NEC codes, and OSHA regulations.
  • Documentation: Accurately document maintenance work, parts usage, and repairs in a CMMS system.
  • Collaboration: Work with production staff to resolve issues, communicating repairs through written or verbal pass-downs
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in food processing or high-speed manufacturing.
  • Education: High school diploma/GED; Technical degree or relative experience.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of industrial electricity, pneumatics, hydraulics, and schematics.
  • Physical: Ability to work in cold/wet environments, lift up to 50 lbs, and work at heights or in tight spaces.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. Must be able to stand for periods of time with frequent moving throughout the production area. Bending/Push/pull/lift boxes up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Meat processing facility is typically cold, wet, humid, and noisy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demand and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There may be a need to enter and walk through a manufacturing setting and wear appropriate PPE. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
