General Description
The Grantham Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for effective maintenance, preventative maintenance planning and scheduling, delegating, coordinating and decision making to attain desirable production results, as well as the oversight of all maintenance items of the Grantham NH Sawmill & Yard. Responsibilities include controlling labor and supply costs related to maintenance, maintaining an efficient system for completing PM work orders, motivating team members to increase productivity, and monitoring procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency to meet or exceed company standards.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with the purchaser and Mill Manager to support cost-effective management of purchasing and inventory control.
- Initiate purchasing of all consumable parts (with PM Parts Purchaser).
- Develop and follow a Preventive Maintenance program for each area, including:
- Developing and adhering to the PM program as outlined by the Mill Manager.
- Assigning and performing electrical and mechanical PMs in coordination with vendors and the PM Parts Purchaser.
- Completing, closing, and documenting PM work orders.
Maintain equipment such as Sawmill Machinery, Waste and Dust Collection Systems, Yard Equipment, Compressors, and Dry Kilns.
Enforce safety policies including LOTO and Hot Work procedures.
Maintain knowledge of manuals, blueprints, and diagrams (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment up to 480 Volt, including wiring, VFDs, sensors, and controls.
Install electrical, mechanical, and electronic devices, and perform repairs and replacements.
Analyze system performance and develop solutions for recurring issues.
Perform scheduled inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and programming of electrical equipment.
Conduct mechanical work such as assembling, installing, and adjusting parts.
Engage in problem-solving and trend analysis to minimize production downtime.
Travel as needed and work at least 20% off-production hours weekly when facilities are not operational.
Coordinate with HR, Safety, and Training departments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Experience with industrial electrical systems up to 480 volts, controls, and instrumentation.
- Practical knowledge of VFDs and pneumatics.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in a production environment.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with CMMS systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of PLC controls is preferred.
