Job summary

Greystar is seeking an on-site maintenance technician in Portland, OR to oversee and perform technical and mechanical work, ensuring our buildings, grounds, and common areas meet safety and quality standards.

You will handle resident work orders, manage the make-ready process for vacant homes, inspect work for quality, maintain tools and inventory, and assist with budgeting and safety compliance. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or related experience and training.
• Experience in property maintenance, other building maintenance, or related trade.
• Incumbents must provide own hand tools unless prohibited by State law and must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, user-moved aids, mechanical equipment and measuring devices.
• Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define and correct problems.
• Proficiency in customer service and interpersonal communication to interact with residents, clients, team members, and others.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose defects and complete repairs to meet standards, safety, and code requirements.
• Manage the make-ready process for vacant units, including inspections, punch lists, scheduling vendors, and ordering supplies.
• Develop and maintain standards for cleanliness and appearance of grounds, exteriors, interiors, and common areas.
• Periodically inspect work by other team members to ensure policies and quality.
• Inspect contractors and vendors to verify quality and compliance.
• Maintain inventory and assist with budgeting for routine repair and capital projects.
• Support safety meetings and ensure OSHA and MSDS compliance.
• Communicate effectively with residents and team members, addressing questions and concerns.
