Viking Packaging is seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Supervisor to lead a four‑person maintenance team and ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency of manufacturing operations in New Paltz, NY. You will coordinate daily maintenance, oversee preventative programs, manage parts inventory, and oversee outside contractors.

Collaborate with Plant Manager, Operational Excellence, IT, and Safety to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supervising, leading, or coordinating a maintenance team.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair skills; electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic experience preferred.
• Experience scheduling preventive maintenance and coordinating equipment inspections and repairs.
• Ability to analyze equipment wear, recurring failures, and maintenance costs to recommend repair or replacement.
• Experience managing maintenance inventory, purchasing parts, and coordinating outside contractors.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or relevant certifications preferred.
• Corrugated packaging, converting, or related manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring maintenance activities follow established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and applicable machine‑safety requirements.
• Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of four Maintenance Mechanics; assign daily work, establish priorities, monitor performance, and ensure safe, efficient maintenance.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment servicing.
• Equipment Reliability & Lifecycle Planning: Track wear, condition, repairs, failures, and costs; advise on repair vs. replacement.
• Parts & Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels and coordinate purchasing for critical items.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate outside vendors and contractors; ensure safety and timeline compliance.
• Facility & Equipment Maintenance: Oversee upkeep of equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure.
• Continuous Improvement: Partner on 5S, Lean Six Sigma, reliability and process improvement projects.
• Communication & Reporting: Keep Plant Manager informed; maintain accurate maintenance records.
