Job summary

Viking Packaging is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team, coordinating daily activities and overseeing preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

You will collaborate with the Plant Manager and other departments to ensure safe, efficient operations while adhering to continuous improvement initiatives and department budgets.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising, leading, or coordinating a maintenance team.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair skills; electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic experience preferred.
• Experience scheduling preventive maintenance and coordinating equipment inspections and repairs.
• Ability to analyze equipment wear, recurring failures, and maintenance costs to recommend repair or replacement.
• Experience managing maintenance inventory, purchasing parts, and coordinating outside contractors.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or relevant certifications preferred.
• Corrugated packaging, converting, or related manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure maintenance activities follow safety procedures.
• Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of four Maintenance Mechanics and assign daily work.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Schedule inspections and upkeep, monitor performance, and prevent downtime.
• Equipment Reliability & Lifecycle Planning: Track wear, repair history, and costs; recommend repair vs. replacement.
• Parts & Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels and coordinate purchasing of critical items.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Oversee outside vendors; ensure safety, schedule, and standards.
• Facility & Equipment Maintenance: Oversee upkeep of equipment and facility infrastructure.
• Continuous Improvement: Collaborate on Lean Six Sigma projects to improve efficiency.
• Communication & Reporting: Keep Plant Manager informed and maintain accurate maintenance records.
