The Maintenance Supervisor - Drainage earns a competitive wage of $29.82-$32.28/per hour based on qualifications and experience. A DAY IN LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - DRAINAGE

The purpose of this role is to direct, instruct, schedule, review, and evaluate the work activities of maintenance crews within the Streets and Drainage Division.

Supervisory Functions

Supports subordinate Crew Leaders, supervises employees in the Streets and Drainage Division of Public Works, and carries out responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving issues.

Essential Functions

• Directs, instructs, schedules, reviews, and evaluates maintenance crews and personnel, including work order resolution.
• Reviews program needs, obtains quotes for materials, and oversees service contracts, ensuring work meets standards.
• Provides oversight for contract services, including scope of work, inspection, and invoice review.
• Utilizes programs such as Excel and project management software to track bid items, quantities, and payments.
• Oversees safety and training, inspects job sites for safety compliance.
• Handles difficult situations professionally, collaborating with contractors, personnel, and the public.
• Assigns daily work orders and leads weekly safety meetings.
• Communicates with citizens regarding work plans, responds to complaints, and tracks work order progress.
• Provides timely, high-quality streets, drainage, and sidewalk services.

Additional Duties

• Prepares annual performance evaluations.
• Schedules crews for assigned services.
• Orders materials and supplies.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED, with specialized courses/training equivalent to one year of college.
• Four years of supervision in maintenance or related experience.

Certifications and Licenses

• Texas Class C Driver's License.
• Concrete and Asphalt certifications preferred.
