Job summary

American Fan, a manufacturer of air movement equipment, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead day-to-day maintenance on the shop floor. You will own preventive maintenance, repairs, work orders, and vendor coordination, while serving as the primary maintenance contact for production.

The ideal candidate has hands-on leadership, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and a proven track record of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in industrial or facility maintenance, with lead/supervisor experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
• Experience with ERP systems on the shop floor and maintenance planning.

Summary

This Maintenance Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing day-to-day maintenance activities. This role owns preventive maintenance, repairs, work orders, and vendor coordination, while actively working on the shop floor. The Supervisor leads the maintenance team by example, serves as the primary maintenance contact for production, manages requisitions and documentation, and partners closely with the Manufacturing Manager to set priorities and drive initiatives that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, a proven track record of leading people and holding them accountable, and clear, consistent communication with all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production equipment as a working supervisor
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic pneumatic/hydraulic issues
• Lead and coordinate daily activities of the maintenance team while working alongside them
• Prioritize, assign, and follow through on work orders and maintenance backlog, ensuring timely completion
• Align maintenance activities with production plans, safety requirements, and reliability goals
• Serve as the primary maintenance contact for production and other departments, communicating clearly and proactively
• Provide daily direction, coaching, and accountability for maintenance team members
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of maintenance staff to build a strong, reliable team
• Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors on-site, ensuring quality and safety standards are met
• Work with vendors to schedule service, obtain quotes, and resolve technical issues
• Create and manage purchase requisitions for parts, tools, and services with cost and urgency in mind
• Maintain accurate records, PM schedules, and CMMS data to support planning and decision-making
• Support and drive improvements to maintenance procedures, standards, and best practices
• Help plan and execute minor projects and equipment upgrades from concept through completion
• Enforce and model all safety practices and FMD values on the shop floor

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years Industrial or facility maintenance experience required
• 2 to 5 years’ Experience in a lead, senior technician, or supervisor/coordinator role strongly preferred
• Proven ability to lead a team, set expectations, and hold team members accountable while remaining hands‑on
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work instructions
• Comfortable both on the shop floor and in ERP systems
• Strong organization, time‑management, and prioritization skills, with a focus on follow‑through
• Clear, confident, and respectful communication with internal teams and external vendors
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and equipment reliability
