Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for our mining support client in Welkom. You will lead a skilled team of technicians, implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensure safe, compliant operations that maximise uptime of critical mining equipment.

The role requires a trade qualification or engineering diploma, 5+ years in industrial maintenance with at least 2 in supervision, and strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical/control

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical failures, providing expert guidance to the team.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement to ensure availability of critical components.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development for maintenance staff.
• Oversee contractor activities when external specialists are engaged.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, analyze performance data, and generate reports for management.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the mining support services sector, is looking for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to oversee operations in Welkom. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Mechanical Fitter) and/or a relevant Engineering diploma or degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role within an industrial or mining environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong knowledge of heavy industrial equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and control systems.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a technical team.
• Excellent understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a mining context.
• Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for planning and tracking.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
