Job summary

Domtar in Plymouth, North Carolina is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team responsible for safe, reliable maintenance of heavy manufacturing equipment. You will ensure adherence to SOPs, coordinate daily maintenance plans, and drive continuous improvement while managing budgets and team performance.

The role requires 2+ years of industrial maintenance leadership, strong communication skills, and a technical or engineering background.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
• Minimum 2 years of maintenance supervisory experience in a large heavy manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety preventive activities and SOPs are followed, including audits.
• Lead and coach maintenance team to meet daily targets and budgets.
• Schedule training to ensure task proficiency and SOP compliance.
• Manage planned and unplanned maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
• Diagnose breakdowns promptly and oversee timely repairs.
• Monitor maintenance overtime within budget guidelines.
• Maintain 5S workplace organization and standards.
• Support problem-solving processes and reporting.
• Develop and mentor team members through challenging assignments and coaching.

The location in Plymouth, (North Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Maintenance Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Ensure all safety preventive activities and S.O.P.'s are consistently followed, including Show Me" audits and HPI.
• Take responsibility for the safety of individuals on the team and those impacted by any maintenance activity.
• Ensure and actively engage in daily safety requirements and team meetings.
• Appropriately plan and ensure that all assigned employees know and understand the areas daily manufacturing and maintenance strategies.
• Facilitate and/or schedule training to ensure that employees are knowledgeable of the required tasks and all appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure that all maintenance work (planned and unplanned) is performed on schedule and within budgetary limits.
• Perform effective diagnosis of breakdowns and timely repair to maximize availability of equipment and processes.
• Manage maintenance overtime to meet or beat approved budget guidelines.
• Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organization (5S - Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Learn and utilize Domtar's Front-Line Problem-Solving process.
• Coach, counsel, and manage performance of direct reports consistent with the appropriate Labor Agreement, Rules & Regulations, Domtar policies & procedures and government regulations.
• Manage maintenance projects as assigned to support the needs of the business.
• Develop maintenance team members by providing challenging assignments, training, coaching, and mentoring opportunities.
• Recognize and reward team members for working cohesively to meet and exceed the business goals and targets.

Required Professional Experience/Qualifications:

• A minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting or environment.
• A minimum of two (2) years of maintenance supervisory experience in a large heavy manufacturing environment is required.
• Ability to work with all levels of the organization, including the management committee and senior leaders.

Preferred Professional Experience/Qualifications:

• A four (4) years undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a Technical or Engineering major preferred.
