Job summary

Fleet Farm is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a high-performing team at our Distribution Center. You’ll oversee preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and testing of material handling equipment, while coordinating with outside vendors.

The focus is on safety, performance, and developing a capable team. This role requires strong leadership and excellent communication, with experience on night or weekend shifts considered a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years in a leadership/supervisory role within operations or distribution.
  • Night or weekend shift experience a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive mindset with safety and efficiency focus.
  • Experience with building control systems, mechanical systems, conveying systems; forklifts preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a high-performing team at our Distribution Center. In this role, you’ll work with and oversee a team responsible for performing preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and equipment testing, repair and maintenance of material handling equipment, and working with outside vendors. You’ll be the go-to leader for your team, with a focus on performance, safety, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of Maintenance Team Members to ensure efficient operation of the Distribution Center
  • Adjust workloads in real-time to align with workflow demands
  • Foster a culture of accountability, communication, and teamwork
  • Lead team meetings to communicate shift goals and updates
  • Support Team Member onboarding, training, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies and procedures
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to maintain the facility and equipment.
  • Performs regular tests to systems including fire suppression, emergency lighting, etc.
  • Troubleshoots semi-complex problems and understand resources needed to resolve them.
  • Repairs and ensures proper maintenance of material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, belt tracking, component adjustment/replacement, component lubrication, etc.
  • Responds to service calls and corrects equipment failures and faults.
  • Performs general repair and maintenance work as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Completes work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Places work orders as necessary for escalated repair needs.
  • Serves as a liaison with outside vendors who maintain the facility.
  • Assists in maintaining and operating heating and cooling equipment, boilers, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.
  • Provides basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of grounds by collaborating with outside vendors regarding provided services and ensuring routine grounds keeping between vendor visits in order to maintain site safety standards.
  • Assists with the removal of trash and recycling from the facility.
  • Installs and moves work areas and furniture.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 1-3 years in a leadership/supervisory role within operations or distribution
  • Prior experience with night or weekend shifts a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to motivate teams and maintain high morale during off-peak hours
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on safety and efficiency
  • Experience maintaining building control systems, mechanical systems, conveying systems is ideal and forklifts preferred. Training available.
  • Mechanical experience with gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, guide rollers, etc. a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word) is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs regularly; 75 lbs occasionally with assistance)
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, and lift arms above shoulders
  • Must be comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
