Job description

Join to apply for the Maintenance Supervisor role at Precision Castparts.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor will manage the implementation of the plant’s existing maintenance program. This includes responsibility for identifying parts and critical spares for the plant and maintaining all equipment in a safe working condition. The supervisor will manage all technicians, including scheduling, assigning daily tasks/work orders, training, onboarding, hiring, and performance evaluations. Additionally, the supervisor will collaborate with department managers to ensure equipment is operational and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules are current to meet production requirements.

Essential Functions

  1. Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and ensure vacation policies are followed.
  2. Maintain effective shift-to-shift communication to align team goals.
  3. Supervise and coach employees to achieve equipment uptime and PM goals.
  4. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  5. Maintain high standards of 6S and housekeeping in the department.
  6. Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
  7. Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel issues.
  8. Troubleshoot and provide cost-effective solutions to production problems.
  9. Maintain inventory of critical spare parts for all equipment.
  10. Manage repair and maintenance budgets, operating within financial constraints.
  11. Conduct performance reviews, discipline, and coaching of staff.
  12. Handle hazardous waste according to company policies.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations.
  • Meet deadlines related to PM and equipment uptime.
  • Work flexible hours, including off-shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Be a motivated self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Maintain a positive work environment with a customer-focused approach.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team.
  • Experience leading a maintenance team and mentoring staff.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment to optimize performance.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in maintenance/facilities.

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years in maintenance leadership.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and computer-controlled manufacturing systems.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills.

Physical Demands

Requires occasional to frequent physical activity including bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs/ladders, walking on rough surfaces, and working near moving machinery.
