Job Overview
Supervise and coordinate activities of the maintenance department to support manufacturing operations, equipment, and processes. Plans for the utilization of equipment, facilities, materials, and maintenance personnel to improve throughput, inventory, and operating expenses. Supports new products, processes, and tooling. Responsible for overseeing the production of maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of maintenance department processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance team members of the shift and ensure the safety procedures in place are being followed in accordance with the requirements.
- Ensure team members are appropriately utilized throughout the scheduled shift and stay on task.
- Ensure timely response to line calls including follow up when repair is completed to validation sustained completion.
- Complete end of shift notes including documenting downtime and / or open issues
- Ensure appropriate shift to shift communication between supervisors as well as team leaders.
- Ensure all work orders in MaintainX are completed as assigned prioritizing all safety related work orders first.
- Ensure all parts used are properly documented in the system and required analysis is completed for all parts removed.
- Escalate any parts needed to complete work orders in an effective and timely manner.
- Walk work orders when completed to ensure all are completed within accordance of the requirements.
- Ensure all tool changes are completed in accordance with the production schedule and / or any documented changes.
- Ensure tool change procedures are followed including buy off.
- Ensure tools are properly cleaned prior to the end of the shift.
- Ensure tools are properly stored upon removal from the line in the designated locations.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance tasks are completed within the requirements of the system.
- Ensure all issues identified are captured in future work orders or escalated and documented on the end of shift report.
- Walk all completed preventive maintenance activities to ensure accurate and thorough completion.
- Document training activities and opportunities for each member of the team.
- Ensure all team members are working within their skill set and qualifications by assignment to prevent risk.
- Document and communicate identified training opportunities for each team member.
- Impartially participate in the buy off process for level changes.
Requirements
- Minimum journeyman’s card or equivalent work experience/knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Minimum of three – five years of maintenance management experience in manufacturing, preferably in automotive interior trim and systems.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and handle shifting priorities.
- Ability to use judgment and initiative to contribute effectively to department and organization objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively lead personnel within the department.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations along with experience implementing safety procedures across facilities operations.
- Controls, Engineering or Maintenance Certification desired but not required.
- Ability to work in various settings and stand for long periods of time.
- May be required to lift a minimum of 25 pounds overhead.
- Ability to support weekend operations.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to rotate shifts
