Job summary

Coalition is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the Maintenance department within Element Chemicals, ensuring safe, efficient operations and adherence to policies. This role reports to the VP of Operations and focuses on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement across production areas.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in maintenance with 5+ years in leadership, and a strong background in chemical manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of maintenance experience.
  • 5+ years of supervision/management experience.
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership and ability to influence across an organization.
  • Knowledge of industry standards: ASTM, API, NACE, ASME.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance team, ensuring safety compliance and efficient work practices.
  • Schedule overtime, coordinate callouts, approve vacations, and manage workload priorities.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and balance preventive vs reactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain familiarity with safe handling, environmental regulations, and emergency response for all area materials.
  • Utilize CMMS to plan work orders, track parts, and document inventory and purchases.
  • Coordinate with Production Shift Supervisors on preventive maintenance, inspections, and calibrations.
  • Lead spare parts inventory management and ensure critical parts availability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

Element Chemicals is a leading chemical manufacturing company known for our commitment to quality and innovation. We specialize in reaction and blending of specialty chemicals and pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the Maintenance department's craftspeople and ensure that the department adheres to all safety policies and procedures. The Supervisor will also be responsible for tracking work progress and assignments. The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the VP of Operations.

What You'll Do
Lead, Manage, Accountability
  • Manage employees, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform the assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Schedule overtime, coordinate callouts, approve vacations, etc.
  • Monitor and minimize maintenance over time.
  • Mange workload & priorities thus minimizing impact on production.
  • Set and manage expectations for all maintenance employees to ensure the job was completed correctly, the job site was clean, removable insulation was reinstalled, and all tools & equipment returned to their storage areas.
  • Respond to injuries and near misses appropriately as described by company policy. Monitor and manage Maintenance Department Safety Performance in areas to include:
  • Recordables & Near-Misses
  • Participation in Required Safety Meetings and Training
  • Observe all safety policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions
  • Monitor and manage the Maintenance Department's performance in Scheduled & Preventative Maintenance vs. Reactive Maintenance, rework maintenance, and other KPIs as determined by Management.
  • Maintain familiarity with the safe handling, environmental regulations, and emergency response for all material in your area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Company Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Stay proficient in using the company maintenance management system (CMMS) and assist in planning and coordinating its utilization. The CMMS system will be used to document plant part inventories, equipment repair history, work order scheduling, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance. It will also be used to document approved vendors and generate purchase orders.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for existing equipment based on manufacturer recommendations or best engineering practices.
  • Coordinate priorities with the Production Shift Supervisors for preventative maintenance, inspections, calibrations, repairs, revisions, and new construction.
Mechanical Inspection Program and Compliance
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive inspection program to maintain mechanical integrity and compliance with all engineering/regulatory codes and internal policies.
Reactive Repairs & Troubleshooting Issues
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and recommend how to minimize equipment failures and maintenance repairs.
  • Assist with repairs as needed.
Spare Parts Inventory Management
  • Lead the maintenance department effort in maintaining an inventory of critical spare parts.
  • Manage inventory and supply orders of items such as tools, hoses, and fittings.
  • Specify and obtain quotes for tools, equipment, consumables, and necessary supplies for Technicians to complete job tasks.
Requirements
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma/ GED required.
  • 10+ years of experience with maintenance experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in supervision/management.
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence locally and across a broad organization.
  • Strong technical skills in maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices, ASTM, API, NACE, and ASME.
