Job summary

Construction Job Force in Spring Hill, TN is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent (1st Shift) to lead maintenance Supervisors and Technicians, ensuring safe, reliable operation of production equipment and facility systems.

You will manage preventive/corrective maintenance, oversee electrical and multicraft work, and drive continuous improvement within a unionized, onsite manufacturing setting.

Job Title: Maintenance Superintendent (1st Shift)
Job Description

The Maintenance Superintendent leads the maintenance function on 1st shift, overseeing Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment and facility systems. This role combines hands‑on multicraft maintenance expertise, strong electrical troubleshooting skills, and leadership responsibilities to drive preventive and corrective maintenance, support continuous improvement, and manage the maintenance budget.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and oversee Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians, providing clear direction and support for daily activities.

  • Assign and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion of equipment and facility maintenance on 1st shift.

  • Create, schedule, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for production machinery and equipment.

  • Evaluate maintenance jobs in process and upon completion to ensure work meets safety, quality, and reliability expectations.

  • Direct the maintenance and operation of facility systems, including electrical, refrigeration, water, steam, and compressed gas, to ensure uninterrupted service.

  • Lead the team through equipment breakdowns by providing strong electrical and multicraft troubleshooting guidance and hands‑on support.

  • Suggest, plan, and oversee equipment needs and acquisitions to maximize production efficiency and return on investment.

  • Review and approve time records for maintenance employees to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Schedule and assign daily duties for all maintenance team members and review completed work for conformance to established standards.

  • Promote, implement, and manage cost reduction programs within the maintenance area.

  • Develop, manage, and ensure compliance with the plant maintenance budget.

  • Conduct or oversee employee performance reviews for maintenance staff, providing feedback and supporting development plans.

  • Lead and participate in special projects related to equipment upgrades, process improvements, and facility enhancements.

  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and overall efficiency.

Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in maintenance supervision with responsibility for leading Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians.

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to lead teams through complex equipment breakdowns.

  • Hands‑on multicraft maintenance experience, including mechanical and electrical work, to support breakdowns and ongoing maintenance needs.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Proficiency in Allen‑Bradley PLC systems, including troubleshooting and supporting PLC‑controlled equipment.

  • Experience working with Fanuc robots in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications for reporting, planning, and documentation.

  • Experience managing and maintaining a maintenance budget, including cost control and forecasting.

  • Experience conducting employee performance reviews and providing performance feedback.

  • Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives within a maintenance or manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility that operates as a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive sector, producing seat‑related components such as foam and assemblies. The position is for 1st shift and involves close interaction with production operations, maintenance personnel, and other support functions. The facility uses advanced technologies including Allen‑Bradley PLCs, Fanuc robots, and various facility systems such as electrical distribution, refrigeration, water, steam, and compressed gas. The workplace operates in a union environment, requiring collaboration and adherence to established policies and procedures. The setting is typical of an industrial manufacturing plant, with exposure to machinery, production lines, and maintenance activities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $108000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
