Summary of Position Functions:
Performs facility maintenance repairs and general upkeep duties to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Major duties and responsibilities:
- Performs skilled work in plumbing, hot water heating (boiler) systems, carpentry, cafeteria equipment repair, and other trade areas as needed.
- Repairs or replaces doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, and other wood structures; builds storage bins, shelves, counters, and work benches.
- Uses hand and power tools precisely.
- Completes work orders timely, adhering to quality and safety standards.
- Repairs or replaces furnaces, ductwork, air conditioners, piping, and controls related to heating, air-conditioning, and plumbing that do not require certified technician licensing.
- Repairs or replaces fluorescent fixtures, control switches, wiring, and other electrical components not requiring certified electrician licensing.
- Maintains cleanliness and proper functioning of all equipment and facilities according to standards.
Skills/Competencies:
- Ability to operate power and hand tools.
- Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and building maintenance fields.
- Understanding of occupational hazards and safety practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- At least five years of extensive experience in electrical, heating, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
