POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Service Mechanic is responsible for providing sales and service to food processing industry customers in the region. This role involves hands-on repairs, rebuilds, and a customer service component, primarily performed on-site at customer facilities. The position requires self-sufficiency and managing own schedule based on customer needs.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow safety procedures at all times to ensure safety of oneself and others.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Train and assist other Atlas personnel to improve their skills.
- Represent the company professionally.
- Manage and support food processing systems/equipment to ensure customer satisfaction and support sales initiatives.
- Provide technical support and expertise to customers regarding processing equipment.
- Perform repairs, overhauls, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently to minimize productivity loss.
- Maintain spare parts inventory for regional customers.
- Train customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Generate revenue through machine, parts, and service sales.
- Document performance, maintenance activities, and parts utilization.
- Maximize equipment uptime through effective troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Recommend improvements to equipment and maintenance programs.
- Adjust equipment based on fruit quality to ensure optimal yield and quality.
- Keep customer manuals up-to-date and communicate necessary corrective actions.
- Follow standard operating procedures and policies accurately.
- Travel approximately 50% regionally.
- Manage own schedule and deadlines independently.
- Perform additional duties and support special projects as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Safety-conscious mindset.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
- Experience with mechanical components such as bearings, belts, motors, etc.
- Basic math skills and ability to interpret data and graphs.
- Intermediate electrical skills, including sensors and PLCs.
- Proficient with spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite, including JDEdwards E1.
- Team-oriented attitude.
- Valid US driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport.
- Ability to perform basic algebra and problem-solving.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Climb, bend, squat, and reach as needed.
- Work in manufacturing environments with varying conditions.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
- Vision abilities include close, color, and focus adjustment.
