POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Service Mechanic is responsible for safely conducting sales and service to multiple food processing industry customers in the region. This position must be self-sufficient and manage their own schedule based on customer needs. While primarily hands-on for service, repairs, and rebuilds, this role also involves sales and customer service. Most duties will be performed on-site at customer facilities.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow proper safety procedures and safeguard others’ safety at all times.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Assist and train other Atlas personnel to improve their skills.
• Represent the company professionally and respectfully.
• Manage and maintain food processing systems/equipment to ensure customer satisfaction, quality, productivity, and support sales initiatives.
• Provide support and expertise to customers for processing equipment, ensuring satisfaction with performance and service.
• Perform repairs, overhauls, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently to minimize productivity loss.
• Maintain spare parts inventory to support regional customers.
• Guide and train customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Generate revenue through machine sales, parts, and service.
• Document and report on machine performance, maintenance, and parts utilization.
• Ensure high uptime and minimize unplanned downtime through troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Recommend and implement improvements to equipment and maintenance programs.
• Assess fruit coming off machines and make adjustments to optimize yield and quality.
• Keep customer manuals updated and provide bulletins as needed.
• Communicate corrective actions to customers effectively.
• Follow standard procedures and policies consistently.
• Travel approximately 50% regionally.
• Manage own schedule and deadlines independently.
• Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Safety-conscious mindset.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex equipment.
• Advanced mechanical skills (bearings, chains, belts, pumps, motors, etc.).
• Basic math skills, including calculating rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Intermediate electrical skills (sensors, PLCs, circuits).
• Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and JDEdwards E1.
• Team-oriented attitude.
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport.
• Ability to perform basic algebra and interpret instructions in various formats.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Lift up to 25 pounds.
• Climb, bend, squat, and reach above shoulder height.
• Work in manufacturing environments (hot, cold, humid, loud).
• Willingness to follow dress codes and GMPs.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
• Visual acuity for close work and focus adjustments.
