Job summary

Avamere Skilled Advisors, LLC d/b/a Avamere Living in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Building Maintenance Assistant for a long-term care community. In this role you will maintain the physical plant, perform routine tasks, and help keep residents and staff safe and comfortable under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Director.

You’ll handle light repairs, safety checks, cleaning, equipment upkeep, and coordination with outside vendors.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining building facilities in a care setting or similar.
• Basic knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
• Commitment to resident confidentiality and a warm, calm environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs.
• Conduct safety checks and report hazards.
• Assist with cleaning, floor care, and supply inventory.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for larger repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies promptly.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and fire safety codes.
• Inspect and maintain life safety equipment and alarms.
• Maintain interior and exterior areas and support other departments.
