Job summary

Louisiana Tech University is seeking a dependable Maintenance Repairer 1 to join the Physical Plant team in Ruston, LA. The role involves general upkeep of campus buildings, HVAC filter changes, carpentry tasks, minor plumbing/electrical repairs, and pest control support to ensure safe, clean learning environments.

The position is a probationary appointment with a typical Mon-Fri schedule 7:30am–4pm, potential overtime. Compensation includes health, retirement, tuition benefits, and more.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
• Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance on campus buildings.
• Performs all assignments related to work as assigned by Supervisor.
• Cleans and replaces filters on air conditioners.
• Replaces ceiling tiles, window screens; caulk doors and windows.
• Replaces and installs hinges, knobs, doors, window blinds, etc.
• Makes limited repairs to cleaning equipment.
• Climbs ladders to replace light bulbs and clean out and replace light fixtures.
• Performs minor painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
• Assists in spraying for pests in campus facilities.
