Job summary

Louisiana Tech University is seeking a dependable Maintenance Repairer 1 to join the Physical Plant team in Ruston, LA. The role focuses on keeping campus buildings, classrooms, labs, and offices in good working order to provide a safe and productive learning environment.

Experience in building trades or related training is required along with basic maintenance skills. The position offers a 7:30am–4pm schedule, potential overtime, and competitive hourly pay with benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in the building trades or related fields.
• Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering; or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance on campus buildings.
• Performs all assignments related to work as assigned by Supervisor.
• Cleans and replaces filters on air conditioners.
• Replaces ceiling tiles, window screens; caulk doors and windows.
• Replaces and installs hinges, knobs, doors, window blinds, etc.
• Makes limited repairs to cleaning equipment.
• Climbs ladders to replace light bulbs and fixtures.
• Performs minor painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
• Assists in pest control for campus facilities.

Our Physical Plant crew is dedicated to keeping campus academic buildings, classrooms, research labs, and administrative spaces running smoothly. Your work directly ensures that our students and faculty have top-tier, comfortable learning environments every single day.

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Job Duties and Other Information

• Performs general maintenance on campus buildings.
• Performs all assignments related to work as assigned by Supervisor.

This position will be filled as a Probationary Appointment.

Work Schedule

The typical work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4pm. May be required to work some overtime, weekends, or holidays.
