Job summary

Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA, seeks a dependable Maintenance Repairer 1 to join the Physical Plant team, ensuring classrooms, labs, and offices stay safe and comfortable. You’ll perform general campus maintenance, door and fixture work, filter replacements, and light repairs to support a top-tier learning environment.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4pm with potential overtime. Pay is $17.18/hr.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
  • Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance on campus buildings.
  • Performs all assignments related to work as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Cleans and replaces filters on air conditioners.
  • Replaces ceiling tiles, window screens; caulk doors and windows.
  • Replaces and installs hinges, knobs, doors, window blinds, etc.
  • Makes limited repairs to cleaning equipment.
  • Climbs ladders to replace light bulbs and clean out and replace light fixtures.
  • Performs minor painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Assists in spraying for pests in campus facilities.

Education

Our Physical Plant crew is dedicated to keeping campus academic buildings, classrooms, research labs, and administrative spaces running smoothly.
