Job summary

Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, seeks a Maintenance Repairer 2 to join the Residential Life team. You will perform general maintenance, repair HVAC and cleaning equipment, install ceiling tiles and doors, and climb ladders to change lights as part of a busy campus housing operation.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with on-call rotations and potential overtime, with an hourly rate of $19.67.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience or training in building construction trades or related maintenance.
  • Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction or engineering.
  • Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering.

  • Performs general maintenance, repairs, and additions to all Residential Life buildings.
  • Maintains and repairs air conditioning systems and motorized cleaning equipment.
  • Replaces and installs ceiling tiles, window screens, hinges, knobs, showerheads, closet hasps, doors, and window blinds, caulks doors and windows, and performs painting repairs.
  • Climbs ladders to replace light bulbs and clean out light fixtures, helps investigate and solve problems, and completes assignments from supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance;

  • Completion of a two‑year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering;

  • Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

The Mission of Building Services is to provide a facility that is clean, safe, comfortable, and well maintained in order to establish an environment that complements the educational goals of the institution.


Building Services fulfills this mission through the following:



  • Performs general maintenance, repairs, and additions to all Residential Life buildings.

  • Maintains and repairs air conditioning systems and motorized cleaning equipment.

  • Replaces and installs ceiling tiles, window screens, hinges, knobs, showerheads, closet hasps, doors, and window blinds, caulks doors and windows, and performs painting repairs.

  • Climbs ladders to replace light bulbs and clean out light fixtures, helps investigate and solve problems, and completes any assignments given by the supervisor.

This position will be filled as a Probationary Appointment.

Work Schedule

The typical work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm. There is a rotating on-call schedule and may be required to work some overtime.
